After bouncing back after losing game 2 at home, the Dubs dominated in game 3 and for most of game 4 and went back to Oakland with a 3-1 series lead. They looked to close out the series and get ready to face the Rockets. But Doc Rivers and the Clippers had other plans! At the end of the first quarter the Warriors were up 41-37 but the Clippers showed up to play and were on fire! They ended up being ahead for most of the game as the Warriors after being in the lead briefly in the 2nd quarter did not have the lead again until the final minutes of the 4th quarter, which they did not hold! For LA, Lou Williams had 33 points, Danilo Gallinari had 26, Montrezel Harrell had 24 and played really well defensively stopping a lot of Warrior points in the paint. Patrick Beverly also had 17 points and played well defensively. The main problem with the Dubs is that they once again just seemed to be to comfortable. In game 2, they blew their 31 point lead because they were to comfortable and in game 5 they let the Clippers dominate them by getting to comfortable. They seem to play with more sense of urgency on the road then at home. In 2014, the Clippers beat the Warriors in 7 games in the first round of the playoffs, which lead to the firing of Mark Jackson and hiring of Steve Kerr as well as 4 NBA finals appearances and 3 titles, however for Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Bogut who were on that 2014 team, they can only hope that deja vu doesn’t strike them as the series goes back to Staples Center. The Warriors just need 1 more win, and in order to get it, they need to play defense and be more aggressive! Kevin Durant had a monster game scoring 45 points, Curry had 24 and 22, however the Dubs still played pretty clumsy and missed a lot of shots in the final minutes that could have put the game away. All the Warriors need to do to get that last win is to just not look ahead! They need to play in the moment or else people are going to have a field day with the 3-1 jokes again if they somehow blow this series. The Rockets series as important as it will be assuming the Warriors close this out is not suppose to be the focus right now, their only focus should be closing out this series Friday night in LA!
